Hi, my name is Megan and I have just joined the team as a Research Assistant in Past Environmental Change. I will be focusing on geochemical, grain size and heavy mineral analysis. We hope that these analyses will inform us of the environmental conditions of deposition for the RISeR cores and thus help us to reconstruct the rate of past sea level.

I have recently graduated from the University of Leeds with an MGeol and BSc in Geological Sciences. My degree allowed me to explore the various paths of geology and eventually guided me to the realm of Quaternary research.

My masters project involved the investigation of the drivers behind vegetation changes at Ioannina, NW Greece, and possible links to the Laschamps excursion. This allowed me to delve into the world of pollen, tephra, and charcoal reconstructions. This alongside my summer project, in which I investigated (and found!) the presence of Last-Interglacial cryptotephra in the North Sea, kick started my interest in multiproxy reconstructions which I am excited to continue being a part of as a RISeR team member.

Outside of the lab I can usually be found crocheting or knitting or on sunny days going on short walks and hikes (usually in Ilkley).
